any english teachres out there??(about poetry)?

ok, im schooled by a homebound teacher because of a medical condition and i had to write a complex deductive paragraph to analyze a poem. My english teacher left a note at the bottom saying "When quoting poems, use slashes(/) between lines to denote line breaks."


WHAT IS SHE TALKING ABOUT!?!??!

She left multiple slashes across the paper but im not sure why any of them are there becuase they are nowhere near where Im quoting the poem.

Please, does ANYONE know what shes talking about???

You use slashes to show where the line breaks. For instance:

How do I love thee?
Let me count the ways..

Would be

How do I love thee?/Let me count the ways/so on and so forth
