| Poetry: Is it bad to use commas in the middle of a line? For example... Rubik's cubes are fun, didn't you know? Even when you solve it quite slow, I don't know I just made it up but anyway, is it bad to have a comma in the middle of the line like I did after "fun"? What about if it's rhyming couplets?      |

| No its not. Poetry is flexible unlike prose which has lots of rules. In Poetry you can have fun with the words or put commas where ever. There are only rules to follow if you are making the structured kind of poems like the sonnets, the Haiku, etc. |

| Commas are used in compound sentences. A compound sentence incorporates more that one specific thought within the sentence. So, as you have written this, it is not only okay, it's actually proper grammar usage. However, the proper way to write this, even in verse form, is like this: 'Rubik's Cubes are fun, didn't you know, even when you solve it quite slow?' |

| no it's actually good.... gives the reader a natural place to pause.... which makes the meaning come out more and really helps the flow. |
