Except the poetry and wise proverbs, should we dump the old testament?

After all, Jesus came to bring the new one!

No, the Old Testament is great evidence to show early prophecy which was fulfilled by Jesus, such as:

1. Micah 5:2 says, "But thou, Beth-lehem Ephrathah, which art little to be among the thousands of Judah, out of thee shall one come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth are from of old, from everlasting." (Jesus was born in Bethlehem.)

2.In Isa. 53:3-5 wherein the Messiah who is the Suffering Servant, was described: "He was despised, and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and as one from whom men hide their face he was despised; and we esteemed him not. Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows; yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed." (Jesus was all of the above.)

3.Psalm 22:16 says, "...A company of evil-doers have inclosed me; They pierced my hands and my feet" and verse 18 says, "They part my garments among them, And upon my vesture do they cast lots." (As Christians know, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ was crucified this way and the Romans cast lots for His clothing.)

No dont dump it. It is the same important as the new one is. It is the history of our faith and withpout understanding the Jewish history we cant understand what Jesus did for us. Why he is called the LAMB of God and so on. Read the old Testament, but read it to understand the new one.
Shalom
