What is your opinion on the Death Penalty?

What determining factors might change your opinion? Race? Religion?

Do you think that wealth has anything to do with getting out of the death penalty?

Does gender have anything to do with it?

What about the price of the trial?
When I say price of the trial, I mean that usually the average cost of a trial for the Death Penalty is 3.2 million dollars that could otherwise be spent on something more important.

Maybe if I say this you would understand better: 'Does the very expensive process of a death penalty trial (i.e. deciding whether that person should be put to death) help one determine whether they think the death penalty is right or wrong? I mean, it really does cost a lot of money and where do you think that comes from?'

I dont like it. I think the criminal justice system should protect us from criminals. Period. I dont think it should be their job to condemn someone to death. As long as the person is kept out of society forever, I dont see the need to kill them. I dont agree with the arguments in favor of it. It is not a deterrent given the fact that it takes 20 plus years to carry out and it is more costly than just keeping them in prison for the rest of their lives. Also, there is the whole issue of putting an innocent person to death.....
