Why do Republicans want "smaller government" yet they support the?

Patriot Act and warrantless wiretapping. Don't those two things alone require BIG government?
darlin-just don't call terrorists on the phone? How many people out there call terrorists on the phone? Do you REALLY want strangers listening in on your conversations trying to determine if YOU are talking to a terrorist? That's some crazy reasoning.
