Why is it that women want their man's opinion during planning but.... ?

The minute he opens his mouth to make a suggestion, all hell breaks loose?

I've noticed several guys on here asking for
valid advice/opinions and every single one of them getting shot down with "this is the woman's day. Stay out of the planning and shut up". You can't have your cake and eat it too. If his opinions and ideas don't matter, why are you even marrying him? It's his day too and marriage is all about compromise between two people, not one person's day to show off and the other is forced to go along.

I'm not like that at all. My man has been involved in every step of planning except for buying my gown.

That's weird. I respect my fiance's opinion and we are planning our wedding together. There are some things he wants to do that I don't and vice versa. We are compromising.

All women are not like this. Most women I knew made an effort to include the things that were important to their husband. I even know two women who just wanted to have a Justice of the Peace and they had traditional weddings for their fiancee's sake.

Some women do really think it is their day, but sometimes the problem isn't that the guy opens his mouth, it is HOW he opens his mouth. Saying things like, "That's dumb" or "Why do we have to waste money on flowers" are not helpful.

A wedding is about two people and if those people can't respectfully plan a wedding together there are deeper issue.

Because some guys idea of a classy wedding is to order pizza and pop open a keg.....or have everyone eating ribs with a keg. It's a little too frat party for a wedding.

However, you're absolutely right--it is the bride and groom's day. Marriage is about compromise between the couple. I think most women want their future husband's input into the wedding, however I think so many guys just want to get the whole thing over with so badly, that they'll just say whatever pops into their heads, and then expect their fiancee to swoon over what would probably be an absolutely ludicrous idea. Like the "brilliant" idea my husband had about building our home--he thought we could plan a 2 story home, yet leave the upper story unfinished, and then finish it as we got more money. While I wound up compromising on the eventual home we ended up building, I wasn't about to go for that idea, and let him know it in no uncertain terms. Same goes for pizza at a wedding.....

Now, if the bride's ok with it, then I have no problem with it. I just can't see too many brides wanting to have pizza for the wedding. It's just too messy considering people will be wearing nice clothes. It's great for eating on the couch while watching movies or football, but not for a wedding.
