Why are Republicans and the Pharmacy Industry afraid of using Marijuana for Medical reasons?

Please don't go into rants about "How Dangerous" or "It's stronger Today" When I can pick up any newspaper and find mention of how Alcohol has screwed up someone's life. Or Killed somebodies Family Member.
And Alcohol is the REAL Gateway Drug! Everybody (almost that is) got their First Drink from one of Dad's Beer's or Mom's Martini's. "And that was when they were little and didn't know any better".
Not 1 Person (outside of alergic reaction) has Ever Overdosed (unlike Alcohol which has the claim of killing more people then some countries have with war.) from Marijuana.
So if Responcible People can use (Pills from Drug Companies, Tobacco, Alcohol) things that will kill us if we take too much aka miss use them,
Why the Big Stink over Marijuana?
(not too mention grow Hemp for fuel!)
