If you are registered republican in Ohio, are you able to vote democrat...

...in the primaries? I'm not sure if I'm actually registered as a Republican, but I have always voted Republican in local elections. I assume that you have to be Registered something, even if it's just as an Indepenent.

Ohio has open primaries so you can vote on either side. You probably just have to make a pledge that you will not vote in both primaries.

NO. In the primaries you are only allowed to vote from the candidates of the party you are registered with. For the national elections, you can cross over if you wish.

If you request a Republican ballot in a primary you will be automatically registered as a Republican.

Primaries can either be Open or Closed.

In a Closed primary, you must be a registered democrat to vote in the democrat primary or a registered republican to vote in the republican primary.

In an Open Primary, you can choose which primary to vote in. This is how it is where I live....I go to vote and they ask if I want a democrat or republican ballot

Ohio is kind of in-between...called Partially Open. I guess the rule is that you have to vote in whatever primary you voted in 4 years ago if you voted. However, on every site I have been on it says that this is only "loosely enforced". So I guess you won't know until you show up to vote on March 4th. When you go, they will probably ask you if you want to vote democrat or republican...or if they are enforcing it they will have records to see which primary you voted in 4 years ago and force you to vote in that primary.

Silly rules...but that is politics for ya.
