| Why did the Democrats lose so much influence after the 1968 convention?
My political science teacher was talking about the book Boss: Richard J. Daley of Chicago. He talked about how the convention turned into riot and the Democratic party has been suffering since then. I couldn't quite understand why though. Can anyone else fill me on this! Please provide a link or book title if you can.

Suggest to your teacher that the riots were primarily about the war, not the party. The Democrats began to lose credibility at that time because it was becoming obvious to thinking people that the party had been hijacked by the Frankfurt School cadre. Then request that he/she spend a significant amount of class time explaining the philosophy of the Frankfurt School and how successful it's plan has been over the last 50 years.
