2nd opinion? Blood test and ultra sound results.?

I went to the doctor for high blood pressure, but found out it was indeed the Walmart machine and my blood pressure was fine. My doctor did blood tests and an ultra sound on my kidneys to rule out anything before he sent me on my way.

My results.
Gallstones
And slightly elevated cholesterol

The nurse called me and told me that if I don’t have any problems not to worry about the gallstones, but they want to put me on medication for my “slightly elevated” cholesterol.

My question is…wouldn’t a doctor recommend change of diet or exercise before they prescribed medication? I asked if it was high, and she said not really, just higher than normal.

Should I get a 2nd opinion. Oh, and are gallstones serious. The only person I’ve known with them is my grandma, and she had to have them removed.
