Why can't we return taxes to what they were under Newt Gingrich's Republican

Congress? Yes, that would mean raising them somewhat, but the budget was balanced, we had a huge surplus for Medicaide (which was stolen to pay for tax cuts we didn't need) and economic growth was at an all-time high.
So many people are repeating the dogma that lowering taxes will stimulate the economy, but there's just no evidence for it.
Return the tax system to what it was in 1998-2000 or be ready to have a Depression (not a Recession - we're way past that now). Why do you agree or disagree?

They are lower then when he was in office. As for evidence about low taxes and economic growth your just ignoring the fact that whenever taxes were lower economic growth followed. This happened with Reagan, Gingrich and Bush. Not only that but higher revenues follow growth as well, look at the actual budget numbers under Historical Budget Data in the treasury web site. None of this is opinion its fact.

DISAGREE!!!!!

You are assuming that the government is remotely responsible for creating or destroying the economy. Sorry but that rests are your shoulders, mine, and everyone's that is reading this. The only thing government can do is slap us into helping the economy by utilizing our money to fund the economy.

Going back to '98-2000 without the dot.com businesses would mean an even worse state than what we have currently. Cutting taxes has been proven to slow and stop regressive economies....look at Reagan, GWB, and JFK. Heck look at FDR when he gave temp jobs to the unemployed. Giving people money helps the economy. However, in order to do so, the government takes a hit in terms of debt....see the above for details...because they don't lower spending one bit to cover the offset.
