| Can anyone suggest a good classroom pet for a preschool? The director of my school would like us to get a new classroom pet--various classroom rating scales all give higher scores for classrooms with pets. She does not want a small mammal, as we once had a hamster escape. Anyone have any advice/opinions, suggestions or links for a reptile that would work well with children? It would have to handle being handled and be okay with the noise of a classroom. I am looking for a REPTILE because my director is freaked out about rodents (hamsters, gerbils, guinea pigs) running loose. I would never have a rabbit in a classroom; I think the noise would be upsetting to them. I should have mentioned that in NJ, we're not allowed to have turtles. Thanks for your advice!      |
