How did your Toddler react to, preschool/daycare?

Im a 20 year old(in april) stay at home mom (for the past 2 years). I've gotten my GED,i go to school on saturdays for Certified Nurse Assistant, and during the week i will be training for Home Health aide, so i can pay off school and have a job until i start community college in September. This means my 2 year old son is going to go to daycare! Ive tried this several times in the past, and my son hated it. I just wanted to hear from other mothers who have been through this. How long did it take for your child to adjust? Explain to me your personal experience. Its breaking my heart, but i know i have to let him go, because hes getting older, hes the only child and he needs to interact with other children. Im all he has (my fiance too) but hes very close with me, due to the fact that our family doesnt even visit him, and im the one whos home with him all day .All he has is his father and I. Im crushed...please only answers from mothers

I loved my first daycare. Kids cried for about 2 weeks in the morning. Just kiss them good bye. reassure them that everything is going to be okay and WALK AWAY. That is what is best. Don't drag out the goodbye. Don't give in. It is best. Soooner or later your kid will have to go to school. My kids were there for 2 years. Then we moved. They loved it! Got to do amazing crafts and loved all the teachers and had so many friends.

Well the second one was terrible. my kids never adjusted. I gave them two months and felt like something was wrong. Took them out as soon as I could find something else.

Third one, AMAZING. Just like the first. So many great things the kids get to do. They love it. My 4 year old is excited and can't wait to tell me what she did that day. My 2 year old is still shy and a little whiny in the morning but otherwise, they love it.

Just give it time. If you must, go in randomly and check things out without your kid noticing you and secretly walk out.

they tell me my kid cries or is upset for 2 seconds. I'll peek in in 5 minutes, and the youngest is already acclimated.

My little girl started recently...2 hours and 45 minutes every day...she is 3 and a half and like you...I am her world...apart from her dad...she was clingy at first...some yelling in the playground "I dont want to go" sort of thing...but she is getting used to it now...it takes some of them weeks and some of them months...she has come on amazingly in her writing and things...he will get to LOVE some parts of it...playing with other kids and having all that attention....try to find a way to get him to start spending a few hours away from you with someone else....before the event...talk about it a lot..but not too soon...about a month before her goes take him to visit...take him a few times....good luck.
