| How do you handle preschool accidents? I know I probably sound like an inexperienced mother, but my 3 year old just started preschool about 2 weeks ago. My husband and I felt he needed to be around other children his age since he is an only child. Also my 3 year old, is quite shy and only talks to people once he feels comfortable, and since he speaks both English and Spanish sometimes he kind of makes up his own words in sentences that don’t sound like English nor Spanish, so because of this the director at the preschool told us that my son might have a speech delay. Well anyways, one of our main concerns was that our son will hide and go # 2, in his pants. No matter what we try he will do that, so when we enrolled him in preschool we let the director know about this, and she said they would work with him. My son no longer wears pull-ups only when he goes to bed. The first week of school he did well without any accidents. The second week, he had 3 accidents Wed-Friday. So on Friday when my husband picked him up the director told him that my son needed to be wearing pull-ups because it was a hassle changing him, and he is already going to be four and should be already potty trained already. Of course my husband got upset, and told the lady he was going to talk to me about. I was pretty disappointed, I felt like they were giving up on my son. So we have decided to put him in a private school that has a daycare where they say they can remind him to go to the restroom every 10 min.
Was this a hasty decision for us to make? Were we overly sensitive? I ‘m new at this preschool thing and I just want to make sure we are doing the right thing. What do you guys think? |
