Secondary Education Major.?

So, I'm in my second semester at a private college. I've been an undeclared major for this year and its coming to a point where i have got to pick a major, and i have been thinking about becoming a history teacher for some time now. i was just wondering, how difficult is to get there. i have got to have a 1 on 1 with the main head in the dept. and was wondering if anybody knows what theyre usualy looking for so i can start planning out what im going to say to them and not choke on the spot.
