Is it a good idea to get a degree in elementary education before getting one in

secondary education? I am a military wife living over seas and my education opportunities are few and far between. I have an Associates in the Arts and Sciences and am wanting to get a Bachelors degree. I want to teach high school English. The colleges here on post only offer masters degrees in secondary education. There is one that offers a Bachelor's in Elementary education. I am wondering if it would be beneficial to me to get the Bachelor's in Elementary Education or if I should get a Bachelor's in English. I really don't know what route to take and I am very eager to continue my education and become a teacher.
