| psychology?? myspace?
i have always believed that you can get hints into a persons character by looking at looking at specific things- such as how they dress ,what kind of car they drive, posture,etc- so whenever i'm on myspace, i get the same kind of feeling(ppls backrounds are very different, and what kind of things they put in their about me 'if any') .. my question is ...first if you think the same?then if you were able to come to any conclusion about them.. examples please.. instead of saying character i should of said personality but i do understand the "don't judge a book by it's cover" still..first impressions...can anyone say they really don't make any judgments |

For sure!! But only to a certain limit. If you met your school friends on myspace first, I'm sure you would've had a different impression of them. The thing about profiles pictures is some people know how to take really good pictures and other don't. It's hard to judge them correctly 100% of the time. I had a rich friend, who drives a crappy car. If she took a picture in front of her car and posted it on myspace, people would not think she's rich at all. Myspace is a two-dimensional depiction of a person, so it's hard to judge correctly.

I've seen evidence that one cannot judge a book by its cover. A gentlemen who dressed as a hobo turned out to be a millionaire...we knew him (but never knew of his wealth). Where I live, a lot of old cars survived (little rain = no rust). Many upper class people drive very old cars. A person who always put others down, we found, actually liked these people...but was jealous, had low self-esteem, and never felt she'd fit in with their group. A girl we knew dressed very casual...her parents owned a car dealership...she just liked being casual (comfortable). All of the above is true, and were there more room I'd tell you more about people who are not what they seem. I've learned that a person's character cannot be judged by the way they speak, dress, what they drive, write, or any other particular trait. On the internet people can act like someone they are totally opposite of....no one will usually question that, either. I think that's why some people prefer interacting online than with real people in their neighborhoods. I wouldn't presume to judge a person's character...except by the way they treat me, personally...and even then, I could be quite wrong about them. I DEFINITELY wouldn't attempt to judge someone I only know from a place like MySpace's character, at all. |
