Veevee has a spectacular aura about
Social Work or Psychology? What should I major in?

I got accepted to a school for Musical Theatre, but have decided to switch my major because I don't want to struggle from audition to audition. I want to have a steady, well paying job. I am interested in being some kind of therapist. I am a very good listener and always give good advice. I am the first person my friends come to when they have a problem, even my mom comes to me for help. And I feel good about alleviating them from stress. So I've decided I want to do this as a career. But I have some questions: based on what I've said I want to do, does it sound like I would be happier getting a BSW, or BA in psychology? Do I have to go to school for 8 years to be a therapist/counselor? Which degree will pay better? (as I said, I don't want to struggle. I've seen my mom do it all her life) Answers and insights are much appreciated!
