Survey for my psychology class! I need at least 5 people to answer, thank you!?

What sociological factors do you think affect your behavior? Are there some examples from your life?

I was raised in a family where my father was an alcoholic. We were told by our mother not to talk about it so we never did. Now my sister, brother and myself have a very difficult time getting close to people. We have a terrbile time with communication and feel very uncomfortable in crowds. I aways feel as though I am hidding something when I am not.
My sister has had 4 failed marriages, I have had 3. Things that happen in your childhood effect you throughout your life even when the childhood is over it's never really over.

1. Weather. I would be a very different person if I was raised somewhere with endless summers or endless winters.

2. My culture. I would be very different if I was raised around a different religion/culture of people. Regardless of what color I was.

3. Wealth. I would be much different if I was born in a very poor country.

4. Time. I wouldn't be the same if I was born 2000 years ago. Or 2000 years from now.

That's all I can think of.

As for sociological factors, I would say the big one for me is the 'material' things. Being able to have and afford a nice house, nice car, vacation ect. It shows that you are successful and gives you status. It's not the point of having money, but showing what you have gained from your accomplishments.

The most significant sociological factor in my life was my stay in and out of hospitals. I learned well how do deal with in and institution it took me a long time to learn how to deal on the out side where I had to make my own decisions. Society with in an insitutions is very different than Society out side of them. When you're in a hospital you are told what to do, when to eat, what to eat, when to go to bed, when to go to your room, and in order to keep order there is very little leeway as to when and how you can do these things. You're given clothes to wear and told when to get dressed. It's hard to develop a sense of yourself and your ability to take care of yourself when you don't have to do any thing but fallow directions.

I think friends would be an obvious one, as well as significant other. Everybody acts different around different people.
