| Psychology 290-IQ test question.?
IQ tests have been critisized on a number of fronts.Discuss two problems illustratedin the following example. Paul, aneight year old black child from detroit was given a standford-binet intelligence test. His white teacher, Ms. P. Rejudice, was not surprised to learn that his IQ was below normal because, as she was fond of pointing out, "The black kids just arent as smart as the white kids." When she talked to Paul's mother, she suggested that Paul might be encouraged to play an instrument or learn a trade like house painting because "he'll never be able to do anything more with an IQ like that" One of my reason was test bias i.e. cultural bias please help me discuss another reason |

That test is said to be prejudiced against the cultural experiences and understandings of African Americans. It is said to be geared toward a european-centric bank of knowledge. The other problem is that the teacher should know this. She should also see the potential of all children, no matter their ethnicity, social status, etc. That should have been part of her education. Hope that helps. |

there's other unknown facts missing.i can tell some ones intelligence just by talking to them for a few minutes observing there behavior etc...black children are no more less intelligent than other races.if i would put the blame on any one id blame they're parents,or lack there of.
