Quotation Mark Question?

Which is correct:

$200 is collected when passing "Go".
or
$200 is collected when passing "Go."

The period goes inside the quotation marks.

i think it goes outside because "Go" is not a sentence or an independent quotation it doesn't need a full stop, the full stop indicates the end of the bigger sentence .
if it was a quotation that went something like this
After throwing a tantrum he told him, "Go!"
then it goes on the inside i think.

Punctuation is placed inside the quotation mark, unless you have a style guide indicating otherwise.
