Please interpret this short quotation?

“I long to believe in immortality,” by John Keats, in a letter to Fanny Brawne, July 1820.

Or . . . not knowing anything about John Keats, you could interpret that as him saying he wants children. Your bloodline is "immortal" if it is carried on by your children.

NEW. The little I do know of Keats is that he died rather young. Is it possible that he knew he was ill at the time he wrote this letter? Perhaps he knew he was ill, perhaps he was already familiar with death in his own family.

Something to think about.

The older we get the more doubts we have and ponder "is this all that is"

The older we get we so want to believe there is something beyond this life
