Chinese Swede has a spectacular aura about
What do you think of this quotation, Christians and non-Christians?

There is a certain kind of so-called conversion which
separates a man from his fellow men. It may fill him with a
self-righteousness which rejoices in its own superiority to
those who have had no like experience. It may move a man to a Pharisaic self-isolation. There have in fact been not a few so-called conversions as a result of which a man has left the Church to belong to some smaller and holier body. The plain truth is that such a one should very seriously examine
himself, if he finds what he regards as his Christian
experience separating him from his fellow-men, or his fellow-
Christians.

Morkie I take your point from your Luke citation that others may not like Christians particularly much. But, I don't see anything expressly saying that we are to do the same in return to them, i.e. not liking those that do not like us....

Isn't Christ in the Lukan passage describing firstly the world's reaction, but remaining silent on our reaction? I think that reaction should be trusting in the Lord, who will do those things in the back half of the quotation; i.e. I don't think that it's our place to make the rich poor etc..., but that's God's place.... "Vengeance is mine, says the Lord".

And, how does your interpretive paragraph after your Lukan quote square with the Biblical witness elsewhere?

What about the exhortations in Romans 12 ("If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone."), 1 Peter 3.8-9 and Galatians 6.10?

I think the quotation that I brought is more towards our reaction to the world, and a calling to account before God does....
