Nisa 34: if you have suspicion that your wife may rebel, first talk to her, then separate your beds, and then physically punish her (beat her).

Notice that it is not only it is ok to beat woman up, you can beat them up for nothing more than a suspicion.

That doesn’t sound very peaceful to me?
Ps: I am an agnostic from a Muslim family; I believe all religions are somewhat misguided.

I repeat, I am from a Muslim family, so my dad and grand mom and most everyone else is Muslim and i love them to death. but i don't agree with them. so please do not treat me as if i am racist and ignorant. i have read the Quran and i have seen muslim households in action. i don't care what are the circumstances and i don't care how soft it is, you can not justify physical violence towards another person to me. it may just be lite tapping. a beating is a beating and it is physical violance.

where i live (nyc) you can sue a person for assault for if he/she touches you without your concent.

answer: It doesn't seem peaceful to me either. I read the Quran and reject it as oppressive, violent, threatening and elitist.

Honor killings, riots and killings over a cartoon or someone naming a teddy bear Mohammad (why didn't they beat the kids or stone them instead of wanting the teacher dead?). Women needing permission to even leave the house. Instructions to lie to Jews and Christians and kill non-believers. Repeated threats that non-believers will suffer eternal torment even though Allah blinded them and refused to let them know the "truth."

Illogical, violent and oppressive.

why dont you read the verse before and after this verse......and by the way its punish her (lightly)..
“And they (women) have rights similar to those of men over them in kindness” (2:228)
As for those of your women who are guilty of lewdness, call to witness four of you against them. And if they testify (to the truth of theallegation) then confine them to the houses until death take them or(until) Allah appoint for them a way (through new legislation). Vse 15. Nisa 4
O ye who believe! Men are the protectors and maintainers of women, because Allah has given the one more (strength) than the other, and because they support them from their means.
