Am I one of the few right wing nuts who claims Buddhism as a religion?

I can't stand liberals and I never vote for democrats. I believe in gun rights, and I even own a few. I also believe that we should overthrow radical islam by force. I am voting for McCain in 2008 even though I am young and a recent college graduate. All of this and I still prefer Buddhism over other religions. If you think about it, Buddhism is quite conservative in the far east yet I kinda think that the pinko moonbats have hijacked it in this country. Am I the only non-Asian American who is this way?

I'm sure you're not the only one. There is an oddity in every group. I think it's great that you think for yourself.

Hey I'm Buddhist, but since Buddha has never proclaimed himself to be "the Saviour" or a god, I am Atheist.

I think Buddhism is the most credible philosophy and I certainly believe in it!

Probably.

But what do I know? I'm a capitalist bastard, a libertarian nut case and a damned dirty tree-hugging Pagan.

Buddhism is a religion...in the East. The West has turned it into more of a "way of life/philosophy" thingy.

Anybody who says it is not a religion has probably not been to Buddhist countries and hung out with the people. For example, the village I lived in in Japan had Sunday services and other events at the temple, they all donated money on a regular basis, they go there for spiritual help and perfom rituals regularly.

My wife's family is part of a small sect of Japanese buddhists. But their sect is a little less religious.

I think you are cool, but I don't agree with a lot of your political stuff. I'm voting for Ralph Nader. I wish you luck, though.
