I'm all for gays getting married. Why are there so many people against it?

I am an American.I do not want to have the right to deny someone a legal privilege that I have. Why would anyone want that right? It's tyranny, it's not freedom, and it's NOT American.In Iran, the religious wingnuts HANG their gays at soccer stadiums. Just because we do not, does not make us much better if we're still enshrining bigotry, discrimination, and hatred in our laws. Makes me sick.Yeah - there are things about homosexuality that make me really uncomfortable. But that still doesn't give me the right.

Good question. Because people have a desire to control and impose values on others... Not that it is right - but that's how it is.

People fear what they do not understand, so they make a big deal out of it. Gays and lesbians are people just like the rest of us and deserve to have the same rights to love whomever they please, just like the rest of us. But some people think that religion gives them a right to be judge and jury. I just keep remembering that it says in the bible not to judge or you will be judged. It seems like a lot of people have skipped over that part.

Wow!!! What a load of freaks out there.Bestiality, paedophilia et al. What in the name of hell does that have to do with it?!?!?!Let me tell you something - I'm 18 and I have two mums. I've had them my whole life. My 'dad' is one of their gay friends and I've met him once (a few years back) and I felt nothing for him other than friendship.I'm normal, I have a girlfriend and I love both my mums to bits and I'd NEVER change them for a so called 'normal' family for anything!!!They've been together for 27 years!!!! Not too many hetro couples manage that.The sooner everyone realises that 'normal' actually isn't - the better off we'll all be.
