Why do we never relly see "born-agains" or converts to a religion outside the surrounding culture?

Westerners never suddenly have revelations of Ganesh, and middle easterners never become born-again Zoroastrians.Do you think religion is only a culturally bound meme, sometimes even down to a local community?"special"-Ed, thanks for being absolutely unproductive.....just like prayer.Truth, that's my point. Without someone infusing it into another culture, there is no inspration from another god. That makes it a social disease, not a spiritual truth.words, it certainly was. It was completely unconstructive of it."special"-ed, you have to read the whole question. Without some missionary or other form of brainwashing, there is never a spiritual revelation from another god.Just ask the Native Americans about xtian love.

You need to get out more often. Thanks for asking a question without doing an iota of research. I have to wonder how a person can ask a question like this in light of the many faiths who have millions of adherents in countless countries. But I guess logic or attempting to be fair minded is irrelevant.

I've been to many born again churches, full of people from different parts of Africa, Asia, Europe, I live in Australia by the way.

Interesting question, but that's no reason to be arrogant and snotty like you were to Ed.

That is almost like asking why apples come from apple trees. An individual is what it's surrounding environment is cultivated to produce. I mean no offense. Religion is a meme, but not necessarily culture bound. I know of a few christians who have become buddhists, etc. Yet, those conversions were not because of a revelation or mystical experience. The change was more like taking a different path. To those that have mystical experiences, if they only have a certain religious background, they will try to explain this experience in those terms.
