That depends on the religion.

Like capitalism is wide open?Big institutions almost always become corrupt and havens for the power hungry.

How do you explain then, that many of the first and finest universities were founded by Christians...?

all religions don't, how is it that in the Christian influence west we have the most unrestricted access to information...you assumption is skewed, try not to lump all religions as the same thing, there are differences if you take the time to educate yourself

That doesn't apply to religion in the U.S. Americans have the right to look for information wherever and whenever they see fit.

Show me the rule book where it says religion requires restricting the populations information? What a dishonest question.

I agree about religion part but Capitalism restricts more freedom of information. Have you ever worked in a corporation in US . For instance Lockheed martin actually has scrambling device on their conference doors so that people do not tap electronically into their meetings ..why so much secrecy if you are in a democratic capitalist nation .. do you think some other company may steal your mass killing device secrets and make a better bomb?

Religion withholds information to maintain an aura of mystery for its followers and its a way to control them emotionally. Communism did it to create fear in the people. Communism controls by fear.

Hi Desiree. Christianity doesn't restrict anyone's access to information. Islam does that, as we saw when Indonesia and Pakistan, among others, tried to block their citizens' access to YouTube when that "Fitna" film came out.
