| What do you think about these "5 reasons to reject religion"? 1. If you cannot prove or disprove the existence of something, the logical default is to assume it doesn't exist. This is the reasoning we apply to the existence of elves and unicorns and should also apply to Zeus, Ra, Jehovah and every other creation of myth. 2. Religion is irrelevant. Consider two people having a conversation about Bigfoot; one believes and one doesn't. There is no proof either way but in the end that doesn't matter. In the end it doesn't matter if bigfoot exists because that has no bearing on our lives. 3. Religion is a lie. Pick up any "holy book" and tell me if the stories contained within could have possibly happened. Talking snakes? Walking on water? Please. How can such a book be taken seriously? 4. Religion is a fable. Making up a story in order to teach a moral lesson is called a fable. It is meant for children. Adults can have ethical discussions without resorting to this kind of tactic. 5. There is more than one religion but the one you were raised in.. ...just happens to be the right one. Are you sure? With thousands of choices, none of them compatable, you would have to be very arrogant to assume that the religion you are most familiar with is the "true faith." Wow, great comebacks from the theists. That's the best they've got? |
