Do you agree with the Dalai Lama's viewpoint on (his) religion? 'We must conduct research and then accept the results. If they don't stand up to experimentation, Buddha's own words must be rejected.' (Quote from Tenzin Gyatso, 14th Dalai Lama, 1988) Basically, should all religions be open to the assumption that their teachings/scripts may be incorrect and if so, reject the untruths? Apologies: Dalai Lama's philosophy (not religion)

Absolutely agree this is what makes Buddhism so good. Its not set in stone. It allows for adaptation. As time passes, flaws in other more dogmatic religions will start to become glaringly apparent and they will get rejected if they fail to evolve.

Absolute truth transcends time, political climates, social fads, and passing fashions. Temporal, for want of a better word, truths are facts at a precise moment, circumstance and situation in time. It cannot be applied generally, but is perfectly applicable to whatever happening you are embroiled in. When reading scriptures, philosophies, or scientific literature due consideration should always be given to the political and social climate it was written during, why it was written, and to serve what purpose or role. The personality, part and views of the writers and the prevailing environment surrounding him, and his intentions and incentive for doing so. You are then able to summarise appropriately and correctly the given understanding offered in the same said books. Be Loved. Peace.

the bible says we should keep an open mind. it also says that ALL MEN are liars, and it was men who wrote the bible. The Bible is full of lessons and wisdom...I refer to it often. When something is written many years after the fact of when it actually occured or re translated as many times as the books of the bible, how could there not be human error. and if anyone has read the different translations, you have to agree that the translation changes the interpretation of scripture in many cases... It is best to follow your own heart in what you believe than to follow the belief of everyone else, the bible says this also

Yes, and, without a shadow of doubt. Buddhism, is a powerful faith, and, Lamutanchu, The Fourteenth Dalai Lama (having to endure the rigours of exile - since 1959) is a universally-respected Religious Leader, of; immense stature.
