Is religion good for the humanity or bad?

I can see that good things do come out of churches, i.e. charity, encouraging people to be generous/forgiving etc, but also creates some extremely judgemental people and a lot of self righteousness and an "I'm better than you" attitude. Plus most of the fighting in the world is based on religion and people believing that their way is the right way and everybody else should comply. I am not an atheist, but not a believer, I don't know and I cannot be bothered trying to figure out something that is impossible for my brain to comprehend. I think that laws are enough to govern people by, I don't think a Bible or commandments are relevant. I know laws came from this stuff but it is commonsense, of course anything that harms another person is not good
Sorry I am getting pissed off about religion as over the past few days have been talking about it with religious friends and I am sick of the dicomfort and would rather ask questions on the internet to random strangers
