Christians: I have an interesting question about acting and religion/God.?

I am an ex-actor, and sometimes still take part in small theater, and even independent film productions. The thing is, I'm a beginner practising Christian, and I really love my faith, so ever since I started Christianity, I had a problem with playing roles.

The thing is I am into fashion, and acting, and I love playing someone else, but I feel like if I"m portraying or modelling an un-Christian person, am I offending God or blasphemizing my faith to any degree?

For example, I may have to play either a ditzy college guy, sexual type of person, or a mafia type that wears red and black and thinks a certain way. Sometimes we show up at events "in character," and part of it is to "convince" the public that we are our characters or come close to it.

I also think it's fun to play "dress up" like that, but while I'm doing it, I feel un-Christian, like I'm not representing what Jesus wants me to.

But on the other hand I feel like hey, it's only a movie or a hobby. It's not real.
So am I really doing anything wrong?

My take is, if I "become" the person I portray, if it's a negative role, that's a no no. But at the end of the day if I know it's only fun, and I'm able not to get sucked into it, then I'm okay.

That's how I personally see the world too.

The outside world is sin, and illusion, and of the flesh, and as long as we realize it's not or God, and stay true to God, without being extremist, can we dabble in it, as long as we don't get sucked into it and accept it as our god or idol?

Meaning, if we put God above all else, is it still okay?

I guess I have two different questions within this one, two different tangents, but I'd appreciate the feedback guys!

Thanks.

Wouldn't want to dampen my progress in spirituality.

Like yourself it would be hard for me to do. I would only want parts that stood as God would want me to stand. Maybe you should pray to God and ask Him? Just don't become too "R" or "X" rated. God would not approve that. And I don't know if it still happens; but it use to be if you played too sexy a part one was not aloud in decent movie parts again either.
