What's the best antidote for bad religion - is it good religion, or no religion? Why?

In other words, when religion promotes immorality, conflict, ignorance and atrocity, should we be seeking to replace it with good religion (which espouses peace and education and good moral values) or to eradicate religion altogether? Would both be equally good solutions?
