Do you think that some people turn others away from a religion more so...

...than the religions beliefs at times? I know it isn't really fair to base an opinion of a religion or group based on the actions of a few, but am I wrong in my assessment that the actions of a few *can* speak louder than the belief structure?

If you read some snarky answer, and learn of the person's denomination, then see over and over the same person and/or his/her pals making the same remarks, doesn't that taint your perception of the religion as a whole?

I realize it may not be completely "fair" of me, but I started off thinking very favorably of a religion (which shall remain nameless because this isn't posed toward any group -- just individuals giving different groups a bad impression) until I read some of the snarky comments of members -- then I started re-evaluating my perception, to the point where I have even called off meeting with someone from the religion who was going to help me address some of my religious confusion.

I guess I am just curious as to whether I am the only one to have this experience.

To answer your question in the header most defiantly yes.

I have seen many Christians and their actions turn many away from God. As the saying goes actions speak louder then words.

Totally true.

Scientology is a very good example of this.

If God calls someone then they will get past the snarky remarks because they won't be able to rest till they know the truth.

What turns people away from Christianity are teachings that aren't true to the word of God, so that when seekers begin to learn about the faith of Jesus Christ, the power to overcome the world, the flesh, and the devil that is promised in God's word is not forthcoming, and they fall away.
