Buddhism started about 25 1/2 centuries ago. Around 550 B.C., but even scholars don't agree on the precise year. The Veda, the Indian religious text, (Hindu) has been around for at least 10,000 years. Islam is more recent, sometime after Christ. I don't remember if it is 500 or 1500 years ago though Protestant is a faction of Christianity; don't know precisely. Google or Wiki it. Confucianism came from China; I am guessing at least 3000-5000 years ago, but I could be off. Judaism, I really have no idea. Sometime before Christ, obviously. The Eastern world doesn't have the same blackout of history that Europe does. Their records go back thousands and thousands of years. |
