Does learning about other religions enhance your faith or hurt it?

Another of my questions got some firey discussions going which got me thinking.

My wife and I have very strong religious convictions based on our understanding of Gods word (the bible).. We happen to be Catholic but we go to Hanukah EVERY year with our Jewish friends, talk shop with a recent Mormon addition to the family and go to church with my protestant family too.

Until that other question I never realized that there are people who feel like their religion is the ONLY one who has the answer (I guess I was naive). Do you think it is healthy to learn the ideas of other religions and do you think it strengthens your beliefs or weakens them?

imo, it gives my daughter freedom (like God gave us) to choose what SHE believes is true which I feel makes those beliefs stronger since they were made with knowledge instead of just being born into a certain belief system.
