| Atheists - do you consider atheism a religion?
I have asked another question concerning atheism and much of the reasons for believing in atheism is that the logic of scinece is a better explanation than 'God just created everything' is. A common example is that before humans knew why it rained, they created a rain god, which was then cast aside when science told them where rain actually came from.
However, isnt doubt inherent in atheism just as much as in other religions? (no one truly knows why the big bang happened--god is one explanation, science is another) If there is doubt, doesnt atheism require belief and faith, making it, in my opinion, a religion in itself instead of 'the absence of religion' as i have heard it called?
I am curious as to atheists thoughts on whether they consider atheism to be a religion or not. I am not trying to challenge your beliefs, so please dont insult or be rude :-)
thanks!
