Is yours really a religion of peace and love?

I think that I can not belong to a religion that preaches hate and not love. Respect for yourself, others, and your family are very important to me. How can somebody say that their god is love, yet that it's OK to persecute those who are different? It's not right to forsake ones family for god, that's ungrateful in my book. Even Jesus said that he had come to spread the sword, and not love Matthew 10:34-37 how is this the word of a loving religion? And btw this is not taken out of context.

i have always been doubtfull of my religion.. catholocism... and i have always found something wrong with some of the stuff they teach... i think every religion has its flaws... some more than others in my eyes.

My children disdain the thought of what Jesus did. So many family's and nations have been broken with war over religion. But only because of our own ignorance that we commit violence and dissention.

Its not a religion.
Um...I think generally we're all pretty close to that image of hippies everyone has lol.
Except we do have jobs and education etc.

If you find flaws in your own spiritual path then maybe you should walk other paths to see where it is you feel the most comfort. If you have questions seek the answers and do not stop until you find comfort in your religion and personal spirituality. The only person that can see what lives in your heart is you.

None of the monotheistic religions are religions of peace and love. Just look at how many wars have been fought in God's name. Think about how many people have died in his name. Think about how many people technically went to hell because they didn't believe in him. If God really loves us, why would be allow us to suffer an eternity in hell for those of us that choose not to believe in him? According to the Christians, God gave us free will and hence gave us the option of not believing in him. Why is he punishing us for not believing in him when he's the one that gave us the option of not believing? If he's all powerful, why would he even need us to believe in him?
