| Should Dailai Lama separate himself from politics to promote a peaceful religion?
I always believed buddhism had been the most peaceful religion in this world not untill I saw those Tibetan Laima kicking, beating people on the street, attacking stores, banks, ...(from news video clips). Then today I learned that Dailai Lama is to resign from his political leader position but to keep his spiritual leader status. I am confused by the facts : a) why did Tibetan monks act violence like those street gangs ? b) as a religious leader, should Daila Lama separate his religion from politics at the first place like we do in this country ?

Um you are hearing the Western version of what they think people in that region are like. That is like saying the west is the wild wild west and streets in the US are made out of gold. People are people, and all people are going to do stupid things. Believing in Buddha isn't going to change that. I don't know why he put himself as political leader, he should of remained as spiritual leader. The Dalia Lama is following into the same trap the most religious leaders fall into. I feel for him, but like all people who try to help out they get disenchanted. At least no one can blame the problems over there on theists and a belief in God. |

Wrong questions. It should be. Should China engage in peaceful dialogue with the head of the Tibetan people who has been waiting for an opportunity to work out plans for his people with them for years? Second question: Will the communist party stop meddling in the religious affairs of its own people. Like the Catholics, and the Tibetan Buddhists. Third Question: Why did the Chinese authorities get people to attack others in Tibet while dressed as monks? Finally if you are British tell me that your Queen as the ruling monarch isn't also the head of the Anglican Church and that your national anthem does not start with the words "God save..." whose god? yours or mine? And if you are from the US then why has your money got the words "In god we trust..." Sure I know it doesn't really mean that church and state are the same but you try and explain the difference to our Muslim brothers who refer to you lot as "crusaders" So please don't take such a high and mighty stand when talking about the Dalai Lama and Tibet. |
