Can I walkin to a hospital for a respiratory disease?

Or must one go through the process of fixing an appointment with a physician?

You can always walk into an urgent care center or emergency room without an appointment. Just bring a book with you, because the wait can be quite bad, especially on the weekend. If you are in serious pain or having a difficult time breathing, then go to the ER.

If it is an Emergency you can seek the attention of a doctor in the ER. If it is not urgent, but causing you a lot of discomfort you should still maybe go to the ER. If it is not an emergency but you can't get into see a doctor soon enough for your linking - go to the ER.

Feel better soon!
