| How do I get my royalties for airplay? Last year, I wrote music for and I played on a recording for a song that got some airplay on a local radio station. They guy said I would get paid a royalty. He paid me for the cd's that wre sold but not for the airplay. He says that airplay royalties are paid by ASCAP directly to the authors and that we had already discussed that and he was under the impression I was joining ASCAP and that it is my responsibilty to make sure that this is done. This is the first I heard of this ASCAP thing. I think he is holding out on me and just doesn't want to pay me.
I never heard of ASCAP, besides, isn't he responsible for getting the money for this? Shouldn't he have signed me up and how do I get him to pay me the airplay royalties? Should I hire a lawyer? |
