Master Mason, Scottish Rite Mason, Sir Knight, Shriner?

what is the difference, what are the requirements, how are they thought of by society and relegious groups. Are they good or bad?

The Masonic lodge is the basic organization of Freemasonry. For information please see:

www.masonic-renewal.org/freemasonry_explained

The Scottish Rite is a non-sectarian organization, that teaches certain moral and ethical principles in an instructional drama. Please see:

Scottish Rite Freemasonry - Welcome to the Supreme Council, 33°, Ancient & Accepted Scottish Rite, Southern Jurisdiction, USA

The York Rite of Masonry (Including the Chapter of Royal Arch Masons, and the Council of Cryptic Masons, and the Commandery of Knights Templar Masons) is an organization that also teaches moral and ethical principles.

see

www.yorkrite.org

The Shrine is a philanthropic organization, which supports a network of 19 orthopaedic hospitals and 3 burn clinics. Please see

Shriners - Welcome.

Re: Master Mason, Scottish Rite Mason, Sir Knight, Shriner?

the common theme of all or the above are you must first be a Master Mason in good standing. the other groups are additional bodies that a master mason can join. they are all charitable organizations and each support different charities. the shriners have the shrine hospitols for children, the scottish rite has speech clinics, the york rite has an eye foundation and i believe something with the heart. i'm sure i missed some things but am just trying to give a basic overview. i am involved with all of these groups in my area and i can tell you that all the men i have met in the organization are great guys.
