is there some way to seal a painted clay sculpture to make it aquarium safe?

I want to use it as an ornament in a large tank, I think It's ceramic and painted with what I assume to be a flat black paint. I wonder if there isn't some kind of coating I can put on it to seal it? mayhaps a spray of some sort? a dip? thanks.

Use a thick coat of aquarium sealant or pure silicone?

I would not risk it. Anything you put on it has the chance of peeling.
Use it as a deco OUTSIDE of the tank and find a nice rock to put in the tank.

I've used aquarium sealant on decorations for years with absolutely no problems.

After all, it's the same stuff that's holding the tank together, so I'm pretty sure it'll hold up.

It's cheap at Walmart. Get some cheap paint brushes while you're there. They have small ones in the craft section and big ones in the paint department.
Gotta love Walmart. LOL!

****HINT****
Do a few coats. You want to be sure every inch is covered.
