What is a non-readily marketable security and could someone give me an example of...

...one? Someone asked to borrow money from me and has said that they have non-readily marketable securities vs. real estate etc. as collateral. So, in an effort of avoiding appearing ignorant...I've come to you guys!!

Please help a.s.a.p.?????

He is making up stuff, don't give him the money

Unless he is holding like a savings bond or a Annuity CD which you have to wait until it matures or pay a penalty if you cash out early
