why are we still thinking that when we retire we will receive our check

Social Security will still be receiving payroll taxes from workers in 2037 (which is when you will be eligible). What may have disappeared by then are the assets in the Social Security trust fund.

Even that isn't cast in stone, however. The Congressional Budget Office in June 2006 projected that the trust fund wouldn't dry up until 2046.

At that time there would still be payments; however, at a reduced rate of 75%.

real question is why did they make up this silly social security thing, you know they are just going to take all your money away anyway. maybe by the time we are 80 and ready to retire they will have a whole new system but first all our old money will have to be recycled back into society.
