steve08080808 has a spectacular aura about
Beginner books on trading stocks and securities?

I'm an economics major and want to be a trader someday (if not as a job then for myself).

Where should I start?
Recommended books? From the basics of how to, to more advanced stuff.

Mere Exposure has a spectacular aura about
Since you are an economics major and will have access to the college library and many textbooks, instead of recommending one and the same, I would direct you to INVESTOR'S BUSINESS DAILY. It is a newspaper you can have delivered right to your address in the mail. It has articles you will find interesting and insightful yet less textbook. You should browse the tables and just start watching. Like a star gazer who becomes familiar with the night sky, you will start to get familar with stocks and trends. In my opinion this is much more valuable and fun!
