Herpes has social stigma that is very unfair and ignorant. Ive only had sex with one person and I lost my virginity at 19. I contracted genital herpes from my boyfriend. He had a sore on his lips (80% of americans have herpes simplex 1 on the mouth). He performed oral sex on me and that's how I got it. We always use protection and I'm not a tramp who sleeps around. He doesn't have it down there, only I do. I take valtrex and he hasn't contracted it. So why do people have sex with people with herpes? Because they love each other regardless of illness.
