i have really bad cracked skin on my knuckles. What medical condition could this be? Could it be caused by the cold weather? The skin on my knuckles is very dry and on the knuckles themselves ,the skin has cracked, first bleeding, then forming dry bloody scabs..I thought it may be the cold weather doing this, but I'd like to know what others think.Have you ever experienced this condition? What caused it?Any help gratefully recieved.

I have gotten this all my life but on finger tips. Use something like Nivea creme, in the blue tubs. It leaves nearly everything else standing. Put it on morning and night and every time after washing hands. If your job entails dust then wear cheap surgical gloves in cold weather whilst working. That may include whilst using the computer also, certainly it will keep the Nivea creme on the hands and off the keyboard.

oh yes I know exactly what you mean. My hands are in a really bad way. I bought E45 itch relief cream. It's the only thing that works on my hands and believe me they were so bad that they were bleeding and felt like they were throbbing. I'm sure it's alot to do with cleaning products and continually washing my hands. In fact at one point I'm sure my hands were swollen. The doctor thinks it's eczema but I intend to have an allergy test. Do try the above mentioned cream though. It works a treat. x

i'm pretty sure it's eczema,my best friend has had this condition all his life and its just as bad in the summer, see your gp if your worried and he may refer you to a dermatologist who will give you a full diagnosis. meantime keep your chin up and keep using the creams, caneston anti fungal cream is safe and effective.as to what caused it,i'm sure it can be hereditory so check if anyone else in the family has suffered from eczema in the past and dont worry i know its a pain but it is very common and can easily be treated...please see your gp soon!!

drink lots of water - you could be dehydrated use lotion/cream for dried skin maybe turn down your central heating if it is high, this could cause the dehydration try 'pommade divine' its really good. search for it on google and ull find their website

You are probably dehydrated. You body lets you know when you need to take care of it, that's why you skin becomes dry. Your body is telling you to drink more fluids. I experience they same thing when I lack hydration. You can also try lotion along with drinking lots of fluids.
