What condition causes lumps in veins under skin on arms and legs (it's...

...not varicose veins)? I have been to a couple of specialists and they don't know what it is, either. It doesn't seem to affect my overall health, but they are tender to the touch. An ultrasound showed that the lumps were actually remnants of a vein, where the rest of the vein had "disappeared"! In some cases, the lumps contained clots, but apparently are not the type to be concerned about. They make my arms unsightly. Does anyone else out there have this rare condition or know what it is caused by? I'd like to get to the bottom of it and clear it up.

It makes me wonder what's going on with the other blood vessels in my body that are less visible. Could they be deformed like this, too? I do suffer from migraine headaches, which is a vascular-related condition. Otherwise, my cardiovascular system seems to be healthy. I tend to have a low pulse and low blood pressure, cholesterol's OK, although sometimes my triglycerides are a little high, and HDL is a little low.
