Water causing skin condition?

Wife has a bit of a rash that's been fairly consistent for about a year now, mostly around the nose and chin. I've noticed that I get a bit of it myself from time to time, always in the same areas. Wifey went to a dermatoligist who ended up giving her some antibiotic cream, which had limited success. We've pretty much decided it's environmental, because when we leave home for a few days or more, it dissappears, then returns when we get back. She swears it's the water (well with softener)....I'm not so sure. We've been here for 7 years now and this started about a year ago, can't think of anything that's changed in that time frame, other than changing a bit of the piping from the well from copper to plastic. I keep the softener filled,...our water has high iron, but with the softener, and iron remover salt, the problem's not noticable in the house. Wifey read that dust mites can cause this also. We're middle age, hygenic, and live in rural central OH. Any ideas what's up?
